Gladys - Designer Gladys Tamez transitioned into hat-making after being inspired during a chance visit to a 4th generation artisanal milliner in Vitoria, Spain. There she witnessed the secret wonders, traditions, crafts, tools and timeless beauty of hat-making. To this day she imbues her work with what she saw and every hat is handmade to order in her atelier in Los Angeles.

Xochitl - Xochitl is H.Lorenzo’s women’s buying director, celebrity stylist and DJ.

Q: What inspires you about each other?

Gladys - “For over 20 years, Xochitl has inspired me by her fearless style and positive attitude. Her style is unique to her and reflects her confidence and knowledge of fashion and beauty. We have an opposite approach to style yet they complement each other. Together we are more than the sum of our parts."

Xochitl - “I saw how Gladys built her business from the start and to see how successful she is right now is very inspiring. I look up to her drive and determination."

Q: How have you been uplifted this past year by each other?

Gladys - “We support each other no matter what and thrive on humor regardless of the challenges we face in our day to day life. She's always there for me and I for her. That humor and compassion and even criticism empowers us and uplifts us in all aspects of life."

Xocitl - “This last year we both didn't stop working. We shared the same ideas to keep going no matter what. Gladys always gives me the best advice. She's my best friend."
