RABÔT FEMALE PORTRAIT SERIES. MEET BRIANNE AND HALEY
We’re celebrating female creatives based in Los Angeles who are inspiring to us at RABÔT.
Meet sisters Brianne Tju, @briannetju and Haley Tju, @haleytju.
Brianne - My name is Brianne Tju. I’m an Asian-American actress, born and raised in California. My parents are immigrants from Indonesia. I’m half Indonesian and half Chinese.
Some of my projects include Three Months, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and most recently Amazon Freevee’s High School. You can see me in Netflix’s Uglies next year.
I love my family and friends, writing, going to the movies, knitting, traveling, riding bikes, playing tennis, and drinking extra dirty Tito’s martinis. I’m in a constant pursuit of growing, learning, and finding balance and happiness.
Haley - My name is Haley Tju and I’m an artist currently residing in Los Angeles, California. I started my creative career at the young age of four pursuing acting alongside my sister, Brianne Tju. During that period, I had the opportunity to play a plethora of different roles, and learn a lot about the industry and myself. However, after almost 16 years onscreen, I decided to switch gears and work more behind the scenes. I’m now following my passion for fashion and pursuing a career in styling and creative directing. Taking a break from acting, has definitely allowed me to try new things and satisfy different parts of myself creatively. I’m in love with what I do now and I hope to keep doing it for as long as I can or until I find my next calling.
Q: What inspires you about each other?
Brianne - "My sister, Haley, is a constant source of inspiration for me. Whether it be her artistry and craft or her resilience and willingness to put herself out there. She’s the coolest, funniest, and most talented person I know. Getting to work with her as my stylist is a dream. She is so good at making you feel like the best version of yourself while also stretching the boundaries and making you feel comfortable to experiment."
Haley - "Where do I even start. My sister is one of the most passionate and hardworking people I know. When times get rough, I see her determination to push through and get things done. She’s also an extremely loving and patient person and that duality within her is something I definitely look up to. She’s works hard for what she wants but she does it with kindness and love."
Q: How have you been uplifted by each other?
Brianne - "Haley has seen me through most stages of my life and she doesn’t judge me. She has always been a bright light that soothes my anxieties and pushes me to be the best version of myself. Her creativity inspires me. She may be my sister but she is also my best friend and icon."
Haley - "Brianne uplifts me everyday whether we see each other or not. We are always confiding in one another and supporting each other’s endeavors. At the end of the day, we are always there for each other and the fact that I have a sister like that uplifts me and makes me want to uplift others."
